How to Gauge Or Measure Your Foot
By Jaime Peret
When it comes to women shoes, the most important factor is the comfort for your feet. The correct size is really important for proper fitting before you purchase your brand new shoes. You will walk in them day by day and you will realize that you really need a comfortable pair. I know someone who always gets her pair of shoes customized because she found that most of the readymade shoes are not comfortable enough to wear. There are some shoe manufacturers that will customize your ladies shoes for you according to the size of your foot. You can easily find one by searching the net.
Uncomfortable women shoes are really bad for you in general as they will only make you un-easy. Another thing! Some people have feet that do swell after standing with them all day. This is the reason why I recommend measuring your foot in the evening. It is important to follow my recommendation, so you will have that extra room for comfort.
Now, let us begin so you will experience comfort in your new ladies shoes.
Here is how to gauge your size:
Step 1. You will need a ruler, tape measure, white A4 paper, and pencil.
Step 2. Tape a piece of white A4 paper, at the corners, to a hard and flat surface floor. Now you are ready to take those measurements.
Step 3. Now, you will be tracing the outline of your foot without the shoe. You should do this with socks like you may be wearing with the new ladies shoes you are planning to buy. Place one of your foot firmly on a white A4 paper you taped on the floor and with your leg slightly forward with your shin just in front of your ankle. Start tracing your foot by holding your pen or pencil straight up and down and make sure it is firmly against your foot as you trace around it. You may get someone else to do it for you but I am sure that you can do yourself.
Step 4. Get the tape measure; wrap it around the widest part of your foot behind the toes (Ball of the foot area). This will be the circumference of the widest part of your foot. Note down the length in millimeters and do not round up or down as this will affect the size of your shoes.
Step 5. Measure the length of your foot using your ruler or tape measure, using your foot outline, measure the length from large toe to heel of the foot and again do not round up or down the measurement reading to the nearest millimeters as this will affect the size of your shoes.
Step 6. Repeat these steps 1 through 5 for the other foot and compare it with the other layout and go with the larger of the two layouts.
Congratulations! Now that you have the correct measurements, you are on your way to buying the correct fitting and comfortable pair of shoes.
