Women’s Clothing Trends for 2010

The year 2010 promises to be a very exciting year for women’s clothing. Experts say that we will indeed recover from the dark economic cloud that has been shrouding us, and as a result, we will be seeing a whole new standard of fashion taking shape.
The fashion trends this year will be a combination of classic style with a bit of sex and skin mixed in. This spring we can expect to see hot pants, knee high socks and short skirts in all colours, patterns and styles. The hemline is creeping up, higher and higher this year and body shorts, short-shorts and tap pants will be hot and very revealing. Knee high socks are making a big comeback as are socks that are thigh-high. This legwear offers many options, ranging form sporty and fun, to layers of thick, warm socks over coordinating tights.
The dress with high splits on the sides are also in this year. Women’s clothing trends for the coming twelve months will bring sexy back with many knock-out gowns offered as well as flowing and draping dresses slit up the side.
The swimwear that is making a splash will be the basic bikini but with a twist. You can expect to see one-shoulder bikinis and monokinis on the beaches this summer as well as cut-away bikinis and bikinis that have been playfully adorned with beads and jewels. The cutaway brief bikini bottoms are daring this year as are the one piece monokinis that sport a deep neck line with cut-away sides.
When the weather turns chilly in the autumn and winter, we will see knee high boots, capes, cloaks and layered sweaters being worn by the fashion conscious. The thigh-high boot will be in the spotlight during the winter months as well, and they will be available in elegant suede and dark wound and bound leathers. It has been quite a while since the poncho and cape were in style - thirty some years to be exact, but they are making a comeback and in a big way. This year we are offered 17th century, decorative shawls, military-style officer capes, and fur stoles straight out of time. Expect the fringed poncho to return from the hippie generation but in stunning styles and varieties never before seen. Leopard prints, dark patterns and elegant solid colours will adorn women of all ages.
It should also become very apparent that more and more designer clothing for women will be affordable for those other than the rich and well-off. Top designers also have been affected by the economic crunch of the past few years, making them realise that they must offer lower price tags in order to survive. This is great news for the working class woman as it will now be possible for ladies from all segments of society to wear the latest, hottest trends coming out of Paris.
As you can see, 2010 is going to be exciting for the women’s clothing world. Some of the new trends we see coming for the year are expected to carry through for the next two or three seasons. Expect the unexpected and enjoy the diversity of this year’s top fashion for the ladies!
